An Unforgettable Culinary Experience at The Chef & The Frog! From the moment we walked in, The Chef & The Frog delivered an experience that completely exceeded our expectations. As newcomers to the area, we were looking for something memorable—and this gem of a restaurant did not disappoint. We started with the Cambodian egg rolls, and let me tell you... they were packed with flavor and perfectly crisp. Then came the soup of the day, which was so comforting and rich, we honestly could not get enough. Every spoonful was soul-satisfying. Now, let’s talk about the main event. I ordered both the Cambodian Beef and the Steak Fritas— is the only way to describe it. As someone who takes steak seriously, I can confidently give them my 2 up approval. Perfectly cooked, incredibly seasoned, and just melt-in-your-mouth good. My wife had the Filet Mignon (yes, well done—she’s one of those people), and even at that level of doneness, it was still juicy and flavorful. That speaks volumes about the quality and care put into every dish here. A huge shoutout to our attorney, Martin Scott, for the recommendation—he hit the nail on the head with this one. We’re already planning our next visit and can’t wait to bring family along for the ride. If you’re anywhere near the area, do not miss The Chef & The Frog. This place is a treasure.

WOW!!!!! A hidden gem! Trent and I have enjoyed MANY fine dining restaurants throughout Horry County through the years, this one TOPS them in all in so many ways! The owners are telling their fairytale story from the menu to the walls of beautifully framed photos of their lives together! If you are a wine lover, as I am, Do yourself a favor and ask Steve to suggest a perfect bottle pairing. If you are lucky, he will bring something from his own reserve! I don’t care what you choose from this menu, you will not be disappointed everything is spot on fantastic!!!

OMG!!!!!!!! This place is the best I have tried in Whiteville. Me and my girlfriends went for lunch and I ordered the salmon and veggies. I asked for my salmon to be cooked medium rare. It was perfect . Our waitress name was Kim. She’s very smart and very kind. She was awesome overall. I would love to thank the chef also. The food was great . I didn’t get to take pictures of the food but I have a picture of my finished plate I definitely will be returning. Thanks to everyone for the Great hospitality and service.

This place is so darn good. Everything we've had is Simply Amazing. And the Wagyu steak is insanely good.

The Chef and the Frog is a fantastic place to have dinner! Today I had out of town guests and had heard how wonderful everything was there. I decided to see for myself. We were blown away—everything was exemplary! The service was great, our waitress (Morgan) was knowledgeable and attentive, the live piano music was a nice touch, and the food was amazing! Best ahi tuna my guest and I had ever had, the beef bourguignon was tender and delicious, the house made Caesar dressing was excellent, and I could go on. Give this place a try, and I promise it won’t be a one time event!

We had the pleasure of being visited by both the Chef and the Frog as we dined. I wish we lived closer so we could come by more often. Highly recommend. My husband and I dined here this past Friday (16 August 2024). It's an hour away from where we live in Leland. One couple joined us for the evening and it was a first visit for all of us. Another friend of ours had recommended this place a few months back, as well as my husband’s doctor (on a recent visit) who works in Whiteville. The interior provides a casual atmosphere with black table clothes and chairs, street lamps, and potted plants around the room. The tables are nicely set apart. While this place is casual – no need to dress up – the food and service is excellent. Kimberly was our waitress, who was attentive and patient while we went through the menu trying to decide what to order. So many good choices! The menu is a mix of French and Asian foods. Both couples ordered the Cambodian eggrolls and fiery sweet Thai shrimp appetizers. In addition, one friend ordered the onion soup (bowl). While waiting for our appetizers, Chef Sokun came to our table and talked with us for a few minutes. She also wanted to make sure we knew how to eat the Cambodian eggrolls, as well as welcoming us. Yes, my husband and I knew how: take a lettuce leaf, place the roll, mint, peanuts and dipping sauce on top, roll it up and eat. My husband and I have a favorite restaurant in Hawaii that serves the eggrolls in the same manner. The four rolls were filled with minced chicken and other fresh ingredients; the wrappers were thin and crispy. The Thai shrimp was a large portion, about 8-9 shrimp. They were breaded and fried, and topped with a delicious sauce. Both appetizers were excellent. Such wonderful flavors. We could have shared the appetizers but we wanted our own. For my entree (and one friend), I had the Beef Bourguignon, which is served with rice. I asked to have roasted potatoes in lieu of the rice. The meat was tender, no knife is needed. The vegetables were nicely cooked in the herb and wine sauce. My husband (and our other friend) had the Cambodian beef, served with jasmine rice. Another excellent dish. The food is outstanding (they use locally sourced, fresh ingredients) and reasonable prices for what you get. Fresh baked bread and butter was served at the table. There is a full bar and a nice long list of wines. I had the “not so classic cosmo” that was very tasty and went down easily. With my entree, I had a glass of the Cotes due Rhone. The ‘Frog’ is Guillaume, Chef Sokun’s husband, owner of the place. He came to the table a couple of times. On the second time after we finished our meal, we invited him to sit with us, so we all talked for a while. He was very personable and we enjoyed talking to him. I wish they were closer to where we live. We’ll have to go back and spend an afternoon in town before having dinner there again (or maybe brunch!). There are other dishes that I want to try. So glad we came here!
